TODAY IS A SAD DAY FOLKS!!

For Philli that is ...lol!!

Haha lol

What an impressive emphatic win!! Maria played wonderfully! She stepped into the court and to me she reminded me of that 17 year old girl in Wimbledon...

31 Winners, 13 unforced errors ONLY.

Cant wait for Roland Garos and the rest of the clay season.

I also cant wait for Philli's comments and I am anxiously waiting how she is going to try and spin this to prove how lucky Maria was and how she doesnt deserve to win! LOL 4 consecutive finals appearances, 1 trophy against the world no1 and I am really curious as to how Philli is going to present Maria as just another casual tennis player who deserves nothing lol. Maria so far this season has reached the finals in EVERY tournament she took part! Really bad performance no? lol

More importantly Maria played against some amazing opponents in this tournament, had some really exhausting matches like the one with Stosur (Philli briefly visited the forum when she smelled a probable Maria loss, but then Maria won and Philli dissappeared :( ) and yet she had the fitness required to beat No3 Kvitova then next day and the day after the world No1. But hey... I thought Maria was not fit enough... what happened?? lol :P

DAVAI Maria this is how you should step each night on the court!!

Many kisses to Philli!

Maria should give the car to Philli... just for consolation purposes...

By the way it was extremely awesome to see Philli in shoutbox... but it was so brief :( Loved her -rather predictable- comments of how the universe was all in favor of Maria and all the planets were perfectly aligned to give Maria 4 finals appearances and 1 trophy.

Clearly Maria is nothing but blind luck...

Folks Maria did not win all the matches because she is playing good tennis. She won because all her opponents had simply "a bad hairday" like my girl Philli says!

Well I'll be damned, those beauty salons that most top WTA players are visiting lately, must suck reaaaal hard! :P

Sharapova beats Azarenka in Stuttgart

Maria Sharapova has beaten world No.1 Victoria Azarenka to win the WTA claycourt event in Stuttgart.

Maria Sharapova earned her first title of the year on Sunday as she blasted her way past world No.1 Victoria Azarenka 6-1 6-4 in the final of the Stuttgart claycourt tournament.

This was the 25-year-old Sharapova's 25th title of her career, but first in 2012 having lost three finals.

It was also revenge for both this year's Australian Open and Indian Wells defeats at the hands of Azarenka, and having also been runner-up at the Miami tournament.

Her victory in 84 minutes also comes with a winner's cheque of $US115,000 ($A112,000) dollars and a new Porsche sports car.

Sharapova demolished her 22-year-old opponent in the first set needing exactly 30 minutes having raced into a 3-0 lead.

In a competitive encounter, the world's top two players even barged into one another during a change over.

The Belarusian raised her game in the second set, but Sharapova got the break she needed to make it 4-3 and then served out to win the tournament on her debut in Stuttgart.

World # 2 Maria Sharapova defeated world 1 Victoria Azarenka in straight sets 61 64, to win the 2012 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany and earned for herself a Porsche car, the top singles prize money of $115,000, and 470 ranking points. Sharapova won her first title of the year after losing in her first three trips to tournament finals this season, with two of those those losses coming to Azarenka in the finals of the Australian Open and in Indian Wells. As runner-up, Azarenka earns $62,500 and 320 ranking points. The losing semifinalists, world #3 Petra Kvitova and world #4 Agnieszka Radwanska both earned $33,500 and 200 ranking points each.

Before the tournament, the two finalists were #1 and #2 in the year-to-date prize money leaders list. Azarenka has earned an impressive $4 million so far with Sharapova in second with $2.1 million, just over half of Azarenka's total earnings for the year. In the WTA career prize money leaders list, Sharapova is ranked ninth and with her earnings this week moves closer to the $20 million mark. Azarenka will move past former #1 Jelena Jankovic into 16th place with her Stuttgart 2012 earnings pushing her beyond the $13 million milestone.

Maria had an amazing tournament serving pretty well and I think we all noticed that her movement around the court have hugely improved. She found the way of beating Azarenka today and did in a fantastic way. Very happy for her! Tears of happiness came from my eyes after the match point!

Congratulations Maria! I always knew you can do it and today you proved it.

Maria is so gracious in her champion's speech by mentioning that Vika was immensely injured and that to me played down her winning the match a bit. But I think even if Vika didn't have wrist problems Maria would have beaten her anyway. The match might have been tighter. Maybe 3 sets but Maria looked a better and more impressive player. The drive was there. The will to win was there. The old Maria is coming back for sure.

Azarenka is one of the un-classy tennis players I've watched. The bump was ridiculous and it made me think of last years Rome when Azarenka retired and blew up. And the handshake bothered me because Azarenka had her crying baby face and didn't congratulate Maria. The wrist excuse enrages because Maria played beautifully and beat quality opponents to win, Stosur was at her best and Kvitova was making routine wins. Azarenka always struggles against Barthel and always beats Radwanska easily. She wasn't injured, it's just words of a sore loser. Maria hit 31 winners to 13 UE, last time I checked, an injured wrist doesn't impair your mobility.

Integrity is the best policy.

Did I not tell you all her first win would come in the claycourt season?!

Congratulations Maria, beating the number 5, 3 and 1 players in the world - on her WORST surface mind you - is definitely something to be proud of

Backhand was ridiculous this whole week - that thing is seriously unstoppable when she steps and to the ball.

7 aces in the final, with only 3?4? double faults. Amazing!

First set she had won 90% of First serve points.

Pretty impressive stats.

Oh and lets not forget 'poor' Vika had a wrist 'injury' - yet she still served pretty well and did that squash esque slice forehand without any troubles.... hmmm

Wow, what an outstanding tournament Maria played. From the very 1st match there was just one goal, winning this tournament. Were all of a sudden are the aces, strong serves, concitentcy, movement, determination coming from ? Her matches were of a very high level and a well deserved tournament win. What a bitch and disrespectful women Victoria is , the way she gave the interview at the end of the match, what a looser you can be in life !! Maria , congratulations and you can be very proud of yourself ! Very proud .

Maria said after the final match:

"I had lost the last few previous encounters with Victoria, so I was extremely motivated today," Sharapova added. "When I got the chance to go out and play her again I knew I had to change a few things. Before I was maybe a little bit impatient and went for a bit too much sometimes, but this time I was really patient. I was aggressive but consistent when I had to be against her.
"I felt I played quite smart in the important moments in the match."

Victoria said after the final match:

"It's obviously not how I wanted it to turn out in the final today, but I'm not going to sit here and look for excuses - that's not my style," she said. "I lost today and that's it, I'm moving on. The world doesn't end. There's going to be another big tournament in one week and I just have to look forward. There's no looking back, even for a little bit. In the end, it was still a good week for me.
"And Maria served really well and her game was really on. All credit to her."

Now that Maria has beaten Azarenka, I really want Aga to destroy Azarenka the next time they play. The look on her face will be priceless.

I also figured out how Azarenka got her 'wrist injury' - its from when she flicks her hand around and does her little victory skip after she wins a match.
