Can it be that Maria reaches the number 1 spot in Stuttgart !?  Victoria will lose points again this week, as she can not defend her title in Marbella and Maria plays Stuttgart for the very first time so will only gain points to her ranking ?!?!

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix will be graced by the Tennis diva Maria Sharapova with her presence for the first time in 2012. The Russian has affirmed to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) that she will be participating in the world class tournament in the Porsche Arena from 21 to 29 April next year. With the superstar from Russia in the line-up, it means all the world’s Top 10 players will be competing in the long-standing tournament in Stuttgart.

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, recently which is voted by the players as their favourite tournament of the year, will once again feature a Grand Slam calibre field and will again be one of the most attractive tournaments on the WTA Tour in 2012. “We’ll be able to present our spectators with the world’s crème de la crème. That all the top 10 have decided to enter the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is a big sign of confidence in the tournament and Porsche generally,” said Tournament Director Markus Günthardt.

The entry list for the Stuttgart tournament includes the Dane Caroline Wozniacki, The Czech Petra Kvitova is the year’s most improved player having won Wimbledon and the WTA Championships. Victoria Azarenka claimed the titles this year in Miami and Marbella. Russian Maria Sharapova will celebrate her eagerly awaited premiere at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Others entered for the 740,000 dollar tournament are Li Na, Samantha Stosur, Vera Zvonareva, Agnieszka Radwanska, Marion Bartoli and Andrea Petkovic, who is the top ranked German.

Thanks for starting the thread.

The spread between them today is still 1050 points, so unlikely Maria would pass her, but the spread will be a lot thinner the next week. Then Madrid & Rome follow very quickly, Would not surprise me to see her take #1 before RG.

Hi Paul,  I think she really deserve the # 1 spot ,if we look at her struggles/ 1000 DF's  in 2009 and 2010. In the end ..............she made it by being a tennis star again.

If Maria wants to win Stuttgart tournament she should play more stronger in final match than now. Maria goes to Final

Match but she loses in final,Maria's coach should tell her how play in finals match then we can see Maria win finals

match.

However,I hope Maria win Stuttgart tournament.

I think that it would help Maria if she didn't think of the final match as the finals and then it will be like a regular match. Because if she thinks of it as this huge final match then it kind of gets her nerves going and she doesn't seem to focus as well in a final then a quarter or semi final.

Maria Sharapova spent only 25% of her life time on the Earth.

Stuttgart is 9 hours ahead of California so if Maria has any intention of turning up she should be on her way at the latest tomorrow otherwise she wont get over the jetlag in time to play properly. There you are, an instant excuse. Never mind the hairdo, if that girl had any sense at all, she would not have attempted to walk on sand in those shoes. Only an idiot would do that.. People with sense would have taken the shoes off and walked barefoot til they got to the shoot. Guess she's not getting any wiser as she gets older.

And 0% of the remaining 17% in school.

Oh, and Brebis, if Maria wants to make the number 1 spot she should get off her photographic butt and play more tournaments like the rest of the hard working girls.
