Hi

just stumbled upon a comment from the director of Hobart Morilla Open stating, that they have been in contact with Marias team regarding reserving a wild cart for her, to the up an coming tournament.

I don´t know how realistic it is, but the final day of finishing the draw for this tournament is on the 5 of january, so i guess we have to wait and see until then.

Hope you all had a great christmas

see you online soon

hugs

Oh yeah, she'll play there. Too lazy for an early start, Pova still needs some competition...

Would make sense. Hobart is a low-stress deal.  Thanx sunstreet. Happy New Year.

Hobart chance to lure Russian Maria

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova could make a shock appearance in Hobart. Source: AP RUSSIAN glamour girl Maria Sharapova could make a shock appearance at the Moorilla Hobart International next month. The three-time Grand Slam champion withdrew from the Brisbane International which kicks off this Sunday on Christmas Eve due to an ankle injury but with the Hobart main draw not starting until January 8, the extra week could prove the sealer. Tournament director Mark Handley told the Mercury yesterday he has spoken to Sharapova's management team about the possibility of her joining the 2012 field. Australians Casey Dellacqua and rising star Ashleigh Barty have been handed two of the four Hobart wildcards, and Handley will now hold on to another for as long as possible while the lure of landing Sharapova remains. Handley also revealed he is still in contact with Venus Williams, but is less optimistic about securing the American compared to Sharapova. RELATED COVERAGE Petkovic jets in and gets on with job Courier Mail, 1 day ago Sharapova out of Brisbane International Adelaide Now, 2 days ago Sharapova pulls out of Brisbane event Courier Mail, 4 days ago Barty books path to Open Herald Sun, 5 days ago Barty fires up for wildcard campaign Courier Mail, 6 days ago Williams has not played an official match since her first-round victory at the US Open after being diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, and pulled out of the ASB Classic in Auckland, putting her Australian Open campaign in doubt. Sharapova first hurt her left ankle at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo in September, and was forced to withdraw from the China Open and later the WTA Championships in Istanbul following two losses. Although the 24-year-old traditionally does not play any Australian-based lead-up tournaments before the first Grand Slam of the season, a lack of decent match practice may see her play in Hobart. The only other tournament available before the Open, which starts on January 16, is the Sydney International where Sharapova is the only top 10 player not participating. ``We are not expecting to hear anything until really late, there will be no early answer either way unfortunately,'' Handley said. ``Nominations for the qualifying draw are open until lunchtime on the fifth, so she has pretty much until then to make her mind up. ``At the moment though we are holding one [a wildcard] for her just in case. ``If we could get her it would be massive, a huge boost for the tournament.'' In total, 15 of the top 50 female players have entered the Hobart International, headlined by former world No.12 Yanina Wickmayer.

Any new word on the Hobart deal? Masha IS on her way to Oz:

A great start to my trip...just checked in at Virgin Australia and they're playing some snazzy music. If only every check in was this smooth. And the scarf? Yep it's new and oh so ready to keep me warm for the 14 hour flight. Thanks Santa!

So it's "XENIYA" now; a new kontraktniki was indeed the best solution for her further career.

And it will be a HELL OF A CAREER, believe me, this girl is born to conquer the world...

Let's see how she does first.   You can bet she's not going to want to want to push it at these events.

Just by showing up her sponsor love her.

It appears she's just after the big title events and moola.

Interesting scarf, looks like something Arafat would have worn.   Imagine, one day Maria ending up old aged wearing that scarf around her head to keep the elements off... like her mother grandmother must have worn hers.

Is she that bad ?? Xeniya

Wonder if she's coming to Memphis ? Wonder if she'd be interested in doing some modeling ?

Not on the IMG pricing plan level.

What do you all think, does she have a visual look about her... and well, imagine how many great places I could shoot her at for maybe her fashion book or her sitting in a boat duck hunting.

No, Maria will not play in Hobart ! The deadline to subscribe has passed. It's a surprise to me, as she has no match practise before the AO. I have my doubts if she will get far in the tournament. No news about the ankle ?

Maria Sharapova will not accept a wild card into next week's tournament in Hobart, TENNIS.com has learned. The three-time Grand Slam champion withdrew from this week's tournament in Brisbane because of her continuing recovery from a left ankle injury, which she suffered at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo in late September.

Sharapova has been training in Melbourne and still plans on participating in the Australian Open, which she won in 2008 and begins on Jan. 16 in Melbourne. She last played at the WTA Championships in late October, when she withdrew after her second match.—Matt Cronin
