I thought that her first serve yesterday was actually very effective(72% in and she won a vast majority of those points!), but when she had a second serve.......watch out (11 DF's and 4 of 23 points won)!!!! The UE's always start to climb when she is struggling with that second serve. But kudos to her for pulling it out in straights!! Both breakers were extremely well played by Masha!
NOW LET'S GET THAT SWEET REVENGE!!!!
PS: I just love that pic of avery young Maria with the big ball!!!
Masha is my #1!!

IMO that's not really such a "big problem". She knows it will happen and thus makes it part

of her game. Others like Henin or Elena got the same problem with their serve and did they win!!!

The greatest problem since her surgery is that toss, now that's a real problem she can work on.

As long as u will see Masha play, you'll see DF's & UE and sometimes lots of both...and still she'll prevail.

I had a nice article about all that in the old "Henin-site" written by a guy who followed her for years; the

article was lost with her new site. Could be written for Masha, those similarities...thru u know!!!

With a 3000 point difference between her & Caroline & no more majors to play, I don't see that this year, no. Early in 2012, however, different matter.

A good rest for Masha was better than playing in Tokyo. I said it before.

"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.

If Maria does well in AO 2012 she could easily go up into no1 spot. She might be doing that even before AO, but she would have to win pretty much everything and Caroline to lose everything. So realistically AO is where she could rise up!

But lets focus on today's match! I want to see her perform better and beat Kvitova! :)

The last 2 matches were not really confincing . I have my doubts but you never know with Maria. 2 more weeks and she will see Sasha again. Expect a refreshed Maria in Instanbul.

Well this is BAD LUCK with all letters capitalised....

Maria was in a great rythym, she was serving beautifuly (ZERO DFs) she was playing great and then she sprained her ankle and it looked very bad... it got swolen immediately which is not a good sign...

Medical time out and then retirement as Maria was limping...

I am really sorry for this, the match looked amazing (4-4 up to that point) and to end like that? Come on... Maria's face was so sad...

Get well soon Maria first of all, you have my support!

I hope it's not too bad, even if she can't play in China next week, i hope she'll get ok for the YEC. :(

I didn't get to watch the match but was following it on live score. I got suspicious when the score stopped and a green tick was next to Petra's name. I need to watch some replays.

What a shame. It sounded like Maria was bent on sweet revenge.

Get well soon Maria. You should definitely skip Beijing. Have a good recovery for Istanbul.

Not a pleasing sight the following video, its Maria's retirement from Tokyo Open and her injury.

This is really sad after such a good season. I am afraid looking at the injury that it is the end of the season for her and that Maria will not play during the YEC. Really sad. Maria , I hope for a speedy recovery, get well soon.
