Agreed that she may never get a better chance than this year! Still it is always one match at a time and we, Masha included shouldn't be looking too far ahead!!! Also agreed that we've been thru a lot over the last few years with her and this win is very sweet and that she gives all us die hard fans a shout is totally sweet. Thanx to Maria and I hope she enjoys the win for a couple of days and then gets back to work and keeps making us all so proud!
Masha is my #1!!

Now I think I'll watch today's match over again and go to bed and catch up on all the sleep I missed this weekend for Masha! I guess RG draw must come out Friday or maybe Thursday!
Masha is my #1!!

Congratulations to Maria on her outstanding victory in the Rome Masters and wishing her every success at Roland Garros! It must give Maria tremendous confidence to land such a prestigious clay court title on the eve of the only Slam crown she has yet to win! Shows how effective all the training and self-belief has been. A well-deserved and long-overdue success - take a bow, Miss Sharapova!

i didn't have the chance to watch it live because of the rain delay.. I have to got to work (night duty)... damn! i haven't witness all the punishing ground strokes and hear the Maria's shrieking...

Finally a premier title ans not just any title, CLAY title!!! it was an icing on the cake after beating Caro last friday!!!

what a confidence builder for Rolang Garros!!! cow on ice, what?! DAVAI!

p.s.
fell a lil' sad of Rafa's lost, but Nole was obviously the better player in Rome... there will always be Paris..

Samantha Stosur took anti-nausea medication before her 6-2, 6-4 loss to Maria Sharapova in the Rome final, the Age reports. Stosur is awaiting test results before heading to Paris. Stosur's coach, David Taylor, said the 2010 Roland Garros finalist was feeling so badly that she was unable to even complete her warm-up session.

What an excuse for the loss and a try to diminuish Maria's win !!!

If it is a fact then it needs to be told ! Maria would have won anyway. She was just overpowering Sam.

Keep im mind this was Sam's EIGHTH LOSS to MASHA.

Head-to-head is 8-0.

If it's an excuse, it don't fly. Maria knew, if she could best Caro, she'd beat Sam.

Maria has more class. She would never mention illness or injury when she loses to a better opponent. Same with Rafa. These two are role models for young players.

Honestly the way Sam played early on, it's pretty obvious that she was sick. I do think they should keep their traps shut and take the lumps though, but I'm guessing they are feeling a lot of heat from Down-Under and something like that is bound to come out anyhow. Still.....

I have a feeling Kim won't get far in RG. Someone like Petkovic, Kvitova or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will probably beat her before Maria gets to her. There so many powerful hitters right now. Kim is a little fragile with her shoulder, wrist and ankle.

Maria is coming to London soon. Can't wait.

I agree. I don't like her arrogance, thinking she'll be able to reach the final so easily.

No, if you play your bloody best, you may have a chance.

She enters RG but she declared to the media that she is not feeling 100% fit.
She has an excuse for failing.

I like Kim. I know she doesn't have many more years to compete as she told the media she intends to retire in 2 years. But rushing to play a grand slam when you are not 100% fit sounds a bit greedy to me.  Why not play the WTA tournaments first? Do it gradually.

I'm just pleased Maria won......who would have thought a few short weeks ago she would have won ANY title? We stuck by her, but her form was poor up until the last 3 or 4 tournaments. As for RG, a whole new challenge. I'm not counting any chickens.....take it match by match, etc etc.
P.S Is it time for the Williams' to come out of hibernation yet?

Hi, Robb. Not yet. Too easy to pull a big-assed screw-up at RG. Look for 'em at Wimbly where they gotta sense of "entitlement".
