Had me some "guilty pleasures" today.

"THZ MECHANIC" with Jason Statham is a remake of one of the "better" Charlie Bronson-movies. Simple story
about a perfectionistic hitman. Today a lot is updated since the original of '72(mainly CGI),
but they kept the storyline intact with that impressive twist at the end...nice to see they
didn't throw it away. Good actionmovie with a more "serious" Statham then usual and an ex-
cellent young actor who will make it, makes me think about Brando!!...BEN FOSTER.

"DRIVE ANGRY" Pure Z-movie in 3D in the vain of "Piranha" or "Machete". Anything goes here with Nic Cage
on a revenge straight from hell. Extreme fights, tolling bullits and bodypieces, sex...fans
will go freakin' out of their mind when they see this over-the-top spectacle. Lots of cynic,
black humor(so needed in this genre),an Amber Heard who would come anyone out of hell and
pumping adrenaline-scenes passin' by like F1-cars. If u like this kind of movie u should al-
ready be in the theater!!! Enjoy...and some sympathy for the devil:)))

A few years ago, Liz was on Larry King--think she had a book, talking all the husbands, lovers, etc. Larry asked her suddenly whuch was the love of her life. As if surprised at the question, Liz answered immediately, "Oh... Richard."

The way she said his name had me grabbing the tissue. It was so true. Past all the bickering & fights, or maybe in part because of them, Taylor & Burton were THE Romance.

Still haven't seen it yet.  I like Natalie Portman though.  Do you recommend it, CROUCHING TIGER?

Damned, 4 days of BIFFF and already feel like a walking dead.

Excellent opener with "crazy" Alex De la Iglesia's "A SAD TRUMPET BALLAD". A surreal tale about 2

clowns and a girl; read "fascist & anarchist in love with Spain".

Some zombie-,monster-B-flicks; less important but on DAMNED HELL IMPOSSIBLE HOURS (my poor eyes).

In a few hours finally my long awaited new TSUI HARK...ASIA takes over and i LIKE THAT:)))

Ji Woon-Kim made a great Korean "revenge"-thriller and thus a worthy winner of this 29th edition!!

Very disappointed by "THOR", the new superbaby from Marvelcomics. Hey, they wanna make an adventuremovie, filled with spectacular effects and all

the other bull u meet in those movies(note, some are very good)and they hire Kenneth Branagh to helm it??? Hello, surprised u get a Shakespearean drama

without great action, some good humor, etc...? HYBRID BIRD this one is!!!

Just from the trailers, that doesn't surprise me. Thanx for the confirmation.

For an "officially good" film, "King's Speech" turned out quite well. Not my usual sorta thing but I love good period work.

Best: HB Carter's portrayal of the Queen Mother. Just the way I would've seen her as a young woman and pivotale as she was rarely given credit for.

Perhaps questionable: Insinuation Ed VIII & Simpson were German sympathizers. Not saying one way or another, but don't flog that at me without saying why--particularly when they downplayed the Germanic idenity of House Windsor overall. Hey, any adult of that time still knew they were really House Saxe-Coburg-Gotha! lol!

Anyway, I really kinda liked it.

'Nuster great period piece: 2004 BBC mini-series "Island at War" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401019/

Glad u liked "The King's Speech", Paul, it's true those "kind" of movies are a dying species.

Tell me about those Saxen-Coburgs; we got them for free and they still multiplyin' as hell...ppfff ROYALS!!!!

Goes back to Leopold I and his "English Affair"...LOL...coincidence? Yesterday, "the royal couple" slept in

the "Belgian Suite"...
