I know, she is too far away in the rankings, but maybe if some results came up (such as players withdrawals or bad results as well as Maria victories in tournaments), she can enter OR AT LEAST END THE YEAR INSIDE THE TOP 10. What do you think guys, can she qualify, what do you expect, do you prefer she wouldnt qualify and preserve for next season?

No way she can qualify now. Elena will have to get about another 300 points to pass Jankovic--and JJ hasn't done squat. If there were two withdrawals from within the eight, first Dementieva then Azarenka would move up. (As it stands, they are the alternates who will get a nice little hunk of change just to go party at Doha.

So what I'd like is moot. But hey, if she were likely to play Doha, she wouldn't play Kremlin Cup and I wanna see her in Moscow again. [H]

No, I don't think so. I don't think she should worry about the YEC this time. She has had many chances this year to return to the top 10, and hasn't taken any of them. She needs to worry about the next season and not look to far ahead.

She is currently ranked World No. 21, but she has no points to defend next year from the Australian Open - Madrid, so hopefully she can build on that, gain some points and get back in the top 10 for once in a lifetime.

Well, in that she did not [:|], y'all should decide whether you want the YEC tread here or in Other Tournaments. I don't care which, but fresh issue for discussion are arising and someone should start one in whichever place.

Kim Clijsters - Official and Serena Williams have now qualified for the season-ending WTA Championships in Doha, joining Caroline Wozniacki & Vera Zvonareva ... who else will make it?

At this point, most likely JJ & Dementieva, with Azarenka as first alternate.

The four contending doubles teams qualified for Doha are:

1) Dulko/Pennetta
2) Peshke/Srebotnik
3) Raymond/Stubbs
4) King/Shvedova [H]

Just out from WTA: Ignore the hypocritical praise from Alaster. [:P] TWO Russians in the Elite Eight, probably a Belarusian as first alternate, and the Russian Kazakhstani kontraktnika in the doubles! [H]

Jelena & Elena Wrap Up Doha Field [October 09, 2010

ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA - Jelena Jankovic and Elena Dementieva are the last two qualifiers for the season-ending WTA Championships - Doha 2010, the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour announced on Saturday.

"I congratulate Jelena and Elena on qualifying for the WTA Championships," said Stacey Allaster, Chairman and CEO of the WTA. "Both Jelena and Elena consistently perform at the highest level year in and year out, and it's great to see them qualify for what promises to be a terrific finale to the 2010 season."

Jankovic will be playing the WTA Championships for the fourth year in a row. A semifinalist the last two years at the season-ending event, has had a strong season, winning her 12th career title at Indian Wells, reaching the finals of Rome and the semifinals of Roland Garros. She also became the seventh player ever to beat both Williams sisters at the same tournament (doing so at Rome).

"I am really excited to have qualified for the year-end Championships yet again," Jankovic said. "I've played in Doha for the last two years and look forward to going back and competing with the best players in the world."

Dementieva will be playing the WTA Championships for the 10th time in her career. A semifinalist in 2000 and 2008, she has also had a strong season, winning her 15th and 16th career titles at Sydney and Paris [Indoors], reaching finals at Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo and also the semifinals of Roland Garros.

Caroline Wozniacki, Vera Zvonareva, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Samantha Stosur and Francesca Schiavone were the first six to make the elite eight field.

The doubles field was also wrapped up this week, with Gisela Dulko & Flavia Pennetta, Kveta Peschke & Katarina Srebotnik, Lisa Raymond & Rennae Stubbs and Vania King & Yaroslava Shvedova all in the mix.
