Masha rises two places, Lenochka drops one, Verochka gains 12 places! [Y]

I'm sad b/c I thought Maria would be in the top 10 by now. And I'm worried b/c she's defending alot of pts from now until the US Open. Which means another crappy draw [:S]
Depends on who plays and what the draws look like. Stanford has been a clean tournament & open to close scrutiny. I hope it stays that way--given that WTA's attitude grows nastier since they proclaimed the end of the Russian era, then it turned out not so much & left them looking like the fools they are. [:P] Cincy--I may be unfair here--I'm kinda bagging with Memphis: a tournament designed to WTA's specs. Dunno what to watch for. Toronto, Masha would've won had she been a tad fitter & not so worn down by the marathon with Kleybanova.
Maria may have to contend with Lenochka at any or all three events. Unless we see otherwise, we must assume Dementieva will be fully recovered from the RG injury. Some possibly good news (for Masha) from Budapest: early results suggest that Kleybanova hasn't been training enough & not in quite as good form as Maria found her last year.
All in all, I'm reasonably confident in Masha to defend points. You're right--the USO draw is the big ????? How is the USTA realm likely to behave? We saw the travesties inflicted on the game by the crooked AO & Miami. But the French only took minimal advantage on behalf of their players alone--serving no foreign agendas--and Wimbledon, thank God, maintained their traditional high standards. Now what will the Yanks do? That is the question.

where did you get it paul.. it seems what i have researched last night is inappropriate.. glad to see Elena on that same track after losing the semis lately.. Masha's rank is quite good.. a 700 more points will surely place her at the top 10 before the USO.. but i am figuring it out.. 3 more events before the USO.. am i right? and i have the vibes she might pull out one event..

Yeah, in the USO Series are Cincinnatti, Rogers Cup at Montreal, & Pilot Pen at New Haven.

Indeed, current rankings are absurd, but made moreso by the ludicrous assertions of commentators. Like: Serena is "guaranteed" to remain number one thru year-end. [:^)] Hunh? Not playing USO, the Sweathawg LOSES 900 POINTS. Someone else GAINS at least hundreds of points unless they figure the outcomes are fixed to be identical to 2009. There are no two ways about it unless--as we're told to believe--the tennis community accepts ANYTHING the Yanks do as "the way things are" and WTA simply refuses to change her ranking.
I can see Wozniacki continuing to rise unnaturally fast because the establishment believes she is in their pocket. But is she really? Those deals were cut more or less in desperation as the "preferred champions" turned questionable and we don't yet know which ones Political Pete intends to honor. (Obviously, the Adidas boardroom has a strong voice there. [;)])
If Clijsters doesn't at least make the finals, she takes a big drop, etc, etc... Volatily will persist even after USO due to the narrow tolerances thru most of the top twenty list. Masha must defend big points at Tokyo. Dementieva does not and may make a rapid surge back up there--unless the Japanese are willing to be complicit in ROBBING Elena AGAIN like last year.
But USO outcomes are certainly pivotale in establishing the year-end rankings and the composition of the YEC. IMO, WTA is hell-bent to exclude all Russians, plus probably Azarenka & Wickmayer as well from the elite eight, in advance of Doha. In 2011, the championships move to Istanbul & become harder to rig. (There are those who continue to suggest WTA will break the Istanbul agreement and steal the championships away to Madison Square Garden where--McEnroe has said virtually outright--Williams dominance can be guaranteed.)
Because the powers-that-be believe this sort of thing is essential for them to maintain CONTROL over a sport whose center of gravity has shifted decisively Eastward, I see little chance that the USO draw, scheduling, any of it, will be anything other than totally stitched-up.
We will see al that in a few days Paul. But, i tell u this. Clijsters is as shaped by Rodin, ready and will win this edition and this time without a "blackfoot" as possible excuse(i don't mean those Natives)[;)]
Right. And I'm not speaking lightly because we're only 48 hours from the draw. But will the powers willingly risk a boring repittion of last year (minus any hope of Serena-antics)? True, the assumption is that a major's box office is sustained by the men's side and the girls are a side-show (though advertising dollars suggest otherwise.) I'm not predicting any guaranteed outcomes so much as predictable legal and illegal "tilts". They want to help advance "preferred champions", including Kim & arguably Caro -- and suppress all Russians.
We've witnessed the extinction of a level playing field on the Tour. Why suppose the majors will remain immune?

Yvonne08, just add 2000 points to her present ranking, 3300 points, which would theoretically put her into 3rd place, but assuming that other top players will also make points its just hyperthetical.
Thanks Philli :D
this will be great! nice to hear this.. thaks to you guys.. :D
Ooooh Kimmy is third in the world now yay! [
After FO 2011 is done, don't expect Schiavone to be in the top ten any longer, she is set to lose big points!

A trans-Atlantic difference in interpretation is becoming visible. Whereas the Yankee commentariat is whacking off over Princess (in a rather similar promotion to the one they gave Ivanovic before her), Eurosport also tries to play the China card with Li Na and swoons over the fanciful possibility of Shahar Peer. lol! Wouldn't they love that? Shahar in the top ten--they could slander anyone who cheers her opponents as an anti-Semite.
