I see Azarenka dismissed Vesnina, so EV will have an extra day to get back to Moscow and get ready to play her wild card. Good chance Azarenka can take Tashkent, however, so watch out for Victoria! [;)] The Belarusian will be really pumped when she goes on court at the Olympic Stadium.

Cheers to Virginie Razzano [:D] for successfully taking on more than justified to gain her deserved victory in Tokyo. Jeers to Venus Williams [+o(] upon getting her just deserts at the hands of the 33rd ranked player! ROFL

So where will the Wimbledon champ play next? Why, Bangkok! Sheesh. Yeah, it may be objected that JJ is going there too, but Jelena has been out of the lower tiers that long and she's not yet exactly a grand slammer.

I'm not gonna get off this. VW's points strategy is unconscionable. If anyone else but a Williams were pulling this, the commentators would be raising total hell. The Williams handlers figure she can do it in Asia and few in the West will know or care. Spread the word.

Congrats to Pauline Parmentier on beating out Azarenka at Tashkent. Razzano, Parmentier, with Golovin's good showing in Stuttgart, it was a fine week for les Françaises. Allez!

Good to see Williams getting beaten(match points saved).

Never heard of this Parmentier before...I've sort of forgotten all about tennis since the US Open, probably because none is shown on TV...

With Flavia Penneta's straight sets win over Venus in Bangkok semis, it becomes more suspicious as to why the Williams team might be hiding the Wimbledon Champion [:P] in Asia. I mean, now it seems, while she is capable of taking tier IV Seoul away from Kiri, Venus is presently unable to win at a tier III level. (Tokyo and Bangkok) Mnnn...?

Uncharacteristic - still, they often don't seem too interested in WTA tournaments and turn it on at the big events...

I dunno. I ragged about what she was doing in Asia but then I began to wonder if she's able to play at the higher level right now. The partial diagnosis she released as her nominal reason for dropping YEC may be news to us, but she's known about it all for months. There may be more here than meets the eye. If it turns out she's really ill, I'll feel bad for being cross about her. [:#]
