HOT DAMN! [H] I'm PROUD of her. [Y] I wrote just yesterday on the Tokyo thread:

[quote user="paul_pipkin"]

Now, the schedule itself is obviously designed to cripple Russian power by jamming the YEC, Fed Cup final & Kremlin Cup into close conflict. Due to YEC ineligibility, outta Fed Cup (Team Russia players have only themselves to blame for expecting Dementieva to win the semifinal all by herself), I say to those at liberty: Getcha asses to Moscow! [H] BUILD that fine tournament WTA tries to undermine.

I was a little confounded at first to miss former champion Dementieva. But, as Lenochka is playing both Tokyo & Beijing immediately before, there should be a limit. Philli: For the same reason, you may be right that Masha may pass on Beijing--IF this deal is going down.

Kremlin Cup, as far as I know, is the only Premier event (and a combined event) the WTA bosses have effectively attacked. East Europeans, Italians & some Germans have long supported KC in spite of WTA's attitude. But I want to give a special [Y] to Kaia Kanepi & Alona Bondarenko. [:D] Seeing their faces in Moscow makes a special statement rebuking the cold warrior corruption of the association. (Alona did play last year, but nonetheless.)

Right Paul.  The date is right...not back to back and there are not too many big guns playing there.  And, she needs to start making some brownie points with the Homeland if she's to weasel her way back into the Fed Cup Team again in preperation for 2012.

If memory serves me correctly...and it does...The last time she played here she was beaten in the first round by Viki.

There a gang of Russians there and, playing in Москва, they are all big guns. Vika will be there too, yes.

I don't think the heroine of the Plain of Sharon has to do any "weaseling". I know she has to play Fed Cup once in 2011 and maybe again in 2012.

They always like to see Masha in the City. She's had injuries every time she's played there--in part due to the RuKort surface. Now, they've changed its color to blue at request of the associations. (No doubt WTA will manufacture something else to whine about.) But I don't know if there are further changes in its composition.

Eurosport will carry both men's & women's Kremlin Cup matches all that week:

I usually don´t get into which tournaments Maria should play, but if she really want to give herself a year end top 10 ranking, as she deserves, playing Kremlin cup this year would be a great way to get there. She has to defend Tokyo, go deep into the draw at Beijing, go deep into or win Kremlin, and at last but not least, pick up the ticket for Bali and get all the points she can collect there.

After all Maria deserves to be back in her natural spot, among the 10 best in the world, and i think this would be a great way to achieve that.

And by the way, i know she can do it, after all: When the going gets though Maria gets going. [;)]

i guess be on the top 10 THIS YEAR is somewhat implausible for Maria..but winning such title before year ends is definitely awesome![;)]
